Celebrity burglary victims Paris Hilton, Audrina Patridge and Orlando Bloom surely breathed a sigh of relief yesterday when the LAPD announced the arrest of another five suspects in connection with a series of break-ins that has plagued the Hollywood Hills-area. What has amazed everyone following the case, including the residential security professionals at Fidelity Locksmith Services, is how easy it was for the young suspects to get past the locks and alarm systems at the homes of such well-known cstars.

A key break in this case came last month when Los Angeles police arrested their first suspect, an 18-year-old resident of Calabasas, who was identified in surveillance footage from an August 2009 break-in at Lindsay Lohan’s residence.
Don’t kid yourself about break-ins. If they happen to Hollywood security-minded stars like Lindsay Lohan and Rachel Bilson, they can easily happen to you. In fact, a burglary occurs every 30 seconds in the United States. Fortunately, there are several easy-to-implement steps that greatly reduce the likelihood that your home will be burglarized.
- Immediately replace locks or latches in need of repair.
- Eliminate dark or concealed areas around your home.
- Close and lock all doors windows whenever you leave home.
- Unplug the garage door opener if you are going on vacation.
- Add extra locks to sliding glass doors.
- Use a timer for your lights if you are not going to be home at night.
- Stop your mail and newspaper whenever you go on vacation.
